Tutors for Supplemental Educational Services (SES)
Ivy League Tutor is an online SES provider, approved for statewide Kentucky SES instruction. Ivy League Tutor works with children, in grades K-12, who receive free tutoring—and the free use of a laptop computer with limited Internet access—under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Based on nationally recognized research, our tutoring program is of high quality and is designed to increase students’ academic achievement.
THE POSITION – TUTOR
This position allows tutors to work from home, by providing online tutorial assistance through the use of a computer.
Ivy League Tutor is currently recruiting Math, English and Reading tutors for the 2009-2010 school year. Our tutors must be college-educated, with an interest in helping students achieve their academic potential. Tutors will teach groups of 1-3 students from their homes via our proprietary software, maintain student records, and hold periodic conference calls with parents to discuss their child’s progress. We provide instructional materials for specific subjects, a comprehensive review of the course curriculum, training in our proprietary methods and online technology, and continued support. If employed, a tutor will need to use his/her own computer with Internet access, in order to access our website and supplementary software.
Tutors are asked to work, as independent contractors, between 5 and 20 hours per week during after-school hours (2 pm-8 pm CST). Limited opportunities are also available for evening and weekend tutoring. Compensation is $15-$20 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Once hired, a tutor must obtain ongoing training through Cross Roads of Learning, thereby obtaining an intermediate level of tutorial certification via the National Tutoring Association (www.ntatutor.com) within 6 months of being hired.
